A Forum for the Road
This forum is long overdue.
We are creating a place of convergence for hitchhikers, vagabonds, nomads, and travelers of all kinds. It is a space where stories, knowledge, dreams, and plans can be shared freely, without the oversight of corporate platforms or the interests that shape them.
The internet has changed. The way we communicate has changed. More and more of our conversations are confined to platforms we do not control, governed by algorithms we do not understand, and subject to decisions made far from the communities that depend on them.
We believe it is important to have infrastructure of our own. Not temporarily. Not as a backup. But now and always.
Today our community is scattered. Some gather on mailing lists. Others exchange stories on Reddit. Some remain on Facebook, while others publish videos on YouTube. Valuable conversations happen everywhere, yet nowhere do they truly belong to us, or do we interact with each other across these platforms.
Meanwhile, there is no thriving forum dedicated to this more radical side of travel. The travelers willing to trust strangers, embrace uncertainty, and experience the world with their thumb out on the roadside. This forum exists to fill that gap.
It is a place to share routes, experiences, lessons, warnings, opportunities, and adventures. A place to preserve collective knowledge and build connections that are not mediated by advertising, engagement metrics, or corporate priorities.
Travel has always depended on trust, generosity, curiosity, and mutual aid. We want this forum to reflect those values.
Whether you are preparing for your first journey or returning from your hundredth, whether you travel for a season or for a lifetime, this space belongs to you.
The road connects us. Let this forum do the same.
